Hildegard’s Parsley Drink – A Traditional Elixir for Heart and Vitality

When to Use

This traditional recipe from St. Hildegard of Bingen is recommended in the early stages of heart weakness, especially when accompanied by fatigue, exhaustion, or a pricking sensation in the heart.
It may also be helpful in nervous heart complaints and poor circulation.
Particularly beneficial for older adults, this tonic helps strengthen the body and improve overall well-being.


Ingredients

  • 10–12 stalks of fresh parsley

  • 1 liter grape wine (preferably a good-quality red wine)

  • 2 tablespoons wine vinegar

  • 70–150 g (3–7 tablespoons) honey

    • For diabetics: use no more than 70 g honey


Preparation

  1. Combine the wine, parsley, and wine vinegar in an uncovered pot.

  2. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Add the honey and simmer for another 5 minutes.

  4. Strain and pour into a clean bottle.

  5. Once cooled, store in a cool, dark place.


How to Use

Drink 20 ml (about 1 tablespoon) three times daily after meals.
Once opened, keep the bottle refrigerated.
