Based on St. Hildegard’s recipe, these little wonders do more than just taste great – they lift your mood, calm your nerves, sharpen your senses, and even help kids concentrate.
Who knew ancient wisdom could be so tasty?
Ingredients:
2 eggs
200 g cane sugar
35 g spice mix ("cookies of joy") - you can purchase it here
200 g butter (soft)
200 g ground almonds
300 g spelt flour (type 650)
1 teaspoon of baking powder ( optional)
Preparation:
Mix the eggs, butter, and sugar. Add the ground almonds, spelt flour and spice mix and knead well.
Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Roll out to a thickness of about 4 mm and cut out cookies.
Bake in a preheated oven (top/bottom heat) at 180°C (356°F) for about 15 minutes.
Adults can enjoy 4–5 cookies per day, children 3.
